Session 3: Firestarter Part 1

The art for the session hand out, can you tell I had a theme going here?

General rambling

Firestarter was probably the shortest session as one of the players ended up dropping out early. Kendall's player. so as a result, not a whole hell of a lot got done, This was however the first session where Lamas made it, so his character Jordan was introduced this session in a pretty comical fashion. In which he was introduced as a classmate of Alvin's who just happened to be present durring a scene where Kendall warded Sarah....

Oh yeah Kendall warded Sarah, that happened, but when Jordan didn't drop out of sight, it became clear that he was an overed.

This was also kind of a botched story arc as well, as I tried to paint the Firestarter as a more... tragic, even dare I say potentially redeamile NPC...  but it didn't end up quite like that as you'll learn in session 4.

Despite session 3 being an otherwise unimportant session, we set the seeds up for the next storyline, as well planted a seed that wouldn't see fruit until session 12, which is how you play the long game.

Honestly the real "Magic" of this sesssion had little to do with my game mastering and more to do with the players interactions with each other and the NPC's, Sarah getting warded happened after the entire party failed to convince her that Kendal was an insurance adjustor... I'm not making this up you really should read the chat logs for this one.

So lets get to the grit of the session, I didn't introduce the titular Firestarter to the group except in flashback so that didn't count, here's the write up.

Post session writeup.

We are introduced to former commander Alex, who was watching City N be destroyed from a massive outbreak of the virus, as a UGN sniper joins him firing out round after round into mutant exile hordes, trying to fight them back. Alex reveals that the UGN is writing off the city, before stabing the man in the back and throwing him off the top of the building.

3 months ago, a Junior High aged male is being chased by gang members for setting fire to one of them, it's not known if it was in self defense or not, he's cornered but rescued by Alex, who cut the entire gang down in front of him before identifying himself.

The scene then changed again to show Jordan's flash back of a day he had to be saved from a major gas station explosion, he doesn’t know who saved him. He's broght back to reality by Sarah, the same as Alvins crush, snapping him back to reality by reminding him that he was in class. Although there teacher is late.

Said teacher, John, is having a conversation with himself a possible sign of slipping sanity, neither the UGN or the FH have contacted him in the last 2 weeks since the destruction of the Baxter building, John refused to accept that the wrote him off, and realized he's already late for work. as he gets in the shower, he finds himself asking "what if she's dead?"

We then cut back to the class, and Alvin, who has a brief recap of the awkward conversation with Sarah about what happened to his door, making up a story about a drunk kicking the door in and how Sarah semi-moved in after her dad installed a security system.

Kendall spent the last two weeks trying to find John's wife to no avail. She is given an assignment to track down a middle school aged overed who killed five field agents with fire.

After the party met up at the local high school with Jordan, Kendall ended up warding an unsuspecting Sarah when she started getting nosy, after they failed convince her about Kendall being part of of Alvins insurance company Kendall decided to ward Sarah, and dump her off. They went to dinner and decided to check out the Baxter building where the most recent victim was found.

At the Baxter ruins, using hounds nose, he finds a partially charged student ID id the kid's middle school, and Kendall hacked an image from a security camera with his face.

With this information in hand, the team plans on traveling to the middle school itself to gather more information, in the next episode.
